The DELF A1 examination is the basic infrastructure for speaking French, this stage of learning is known as a 'discovery stage'. At this level, students should be able to engage in a simple conversation. They are expected to introduce themselves and the atmosphere surrounding them. The students stayed back until 4p.m every Tuesday. Mentored by Mrs.Menal, during the stay back they engaged in exercises of writing, reading, listening and speaking encompassing around daily life situations. Alongside their peers they indulged in a variety of vocabulary and secured their writing foundation through practice. Their ears were sharpened as they practiced for their listening comprehension. They had access to google classroom so they could clarify their doubts at any time. As they strived to improve their language fluency and construction, the young minds were making immense progress day by day. |
A2
The DELF A2 examination requires the basic knowledge of A1. It is mainly grammar oriented, the students thus requisite knowledge on construction of higher order tenses. Just like A1 there were four parts they needed to practice; writing, reading, listening and speaking. The year groups were taught new tenses and were able to grasp the concept easily. The students were given an access code to google classroom where they would find guidelines to tenses and could clear all their queries. Their language proficiency was improved by Mrs. Menal as she guided them to achieve correct pronunciations, formations and gave them an insight to new vocabulary that they could use when interacting with others. The final stay back was crucial indeed, yet it was as fun as it was beneficial. The students had come a long way and were successful in conversing and writing in French. |
After months of preparation and dedication the batches of A1 and A2 were finally ready to earn their diplomas and met at GEMS Modern Academy. The students entered the gates of the school with a feeling of nervousness and fear, as this was the one and only chance to showcase their hard work and efforts among thousands of students present there. There were many students from diverse cultures living in U.A.E.

The students from Dubai Scholars met up near a hallway, with faces revealing both excitement and anxiousness. Most of them looked weary due to intense learning they had done the day before and in the morning. Having no time left to waste, the students of Dubai Scholars rushed towards their respective classes where they were greeted by polite and friendly invigilators.
After five minutes, the exams started for all the students present there. The students were first assessed on listening comprehension as papers were answered while audio clips were played in the background. After around one hour, the students were told to begin with their writing composition which ended after another hour. |
The students were allowed to leave the classes and rest for a while outside in the cafeteria. The students sat as a group and started learning for their orals which was yet to come. Each student had a different timing schedule for orals and had to leave according to the time allotted to them. The orals took place quickly within fifteen minutes for each student as they had to choose from the several topics given there. In the end, it all turned out fine as the students from Dubai Scholars were beaming with glee to find the overall exam easy, even though they were anxious and scared at the beginning.
The results of the exam are said to be announced later, even after the vacations as this was nothing like an ordinary exam however an exam written by thousands of students worldwide. |
